"Okay. I'm telling you now though, it's juvenile rhyming shit." He said and flipped through all the pages until he finally landed on the correct page. He cleared his throat and began reciting:

"girl meets boy
he's so stunned;
girl makes boy
fall in love.
boy tells girl
'it's meant to be
I know that you're
the one for me'.
girl replies
'I love you too
but I'm not in love
with what you do'.
boy tries to change
to no avail;
His stupid shit
winds him up in jail
girl cries her eyes out
while boy's away
thinking the baby she's carrying
is the only reason to stay
boy's released
he's excited;
With his heart
he'll be reunited
Times goes on,
they dismember.
The good times
are all they remember
girl is convinced
she can do without his love
While boy is praying
to God above

The reinvention:
boy's on some new shit
And girl has a new attitude
of independence.
Baby's growing
keeps them close
But their future together
looked more than morose
'Marry me', boy jokes
girl gets curious.
Little does she know
he's dead ass serious.
More time passes
and another possible pregnancy
boy needs girl in his life
with some urgency.
boy's confused
girl is most of what he lives for;
It's breaking his heart
that they are no more.
More stupid shit from boy
though he keeps it hidden
girl would never want him back
if she knew his secrets.

It's the future now
they're still not together
boy could have sworn
it would be 'him and her forever'.
The first girl he loved;
the first who loved him;
boy does not want this
to finally be the end.
girl tells boy
'be a man!
Because this boy shit
is outta hand!'
boy finally gets it
and tries his best;
He decides to put
girl's words to the test
'Be a Man, be a Man'
resonates in his head.
In order to get girl back,
his 'boy' image he must shed.
girl is no longer 'girl'
she's now Woman
No longer does she wants 'boy'
she's waiting on Man.

boy tries and tries
even without Woman's urge.
Like a butterfly in a cocoon,
he wants Man to emerge.
Woman moves on
boy is distraught
If only in a school
this man shit could be taught..."

He stopped reading. He looked at his girl who was watching him.
"What happened?" She asked.
"That was all I wrote."
"So it's not finished?" He shook his head.
"I'm stuck. I don't know where to go with it."
"I thought you would be finished by now."
"I kept adding to it. I wasn't satisfied."
"Well 'Woman' is still waiting for 'boy' to emerge as 'Man'." She teased.
"Boy is working on it, trust me."
